Allscott Cricket Club 3rd Eleven v Quatt 3rds on Sun 27 Jun 2010 at 14:00
Allscott Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Allscott 3 XI v Quatt 3 XI - Allscott.
This week Allscott 3rd XI entertained Quatt at their home ground, Allscott, in hot conditions and on a perfect wicket offering bounce and seam movement to the bowlers. Allscott won the toss and opted to bowl in the hope that early wickets would set up victory. Excellent bowling spells from Captain Les Pritchard and Rob Beckett put Quatt on the back foot and with pressure building the early wickets followed. Beckett and Pritchard finished with two wickets a piece with Paul Griffiths brilliantly caught at Gully by Neil Lewis off Pritchard, during a spell which, at one point, saw Quatt reduced to 13 for 3. The bowling change saw the introduction of youngsters Kieran Berry and Ryan Hoofe to the attack, who continued the good work, restricting the scoring with Berry also weighing in with two wickets. Fellow youngster Grant Brookes replaced Hoofe to also get amongst the wickets with Calum Starling finishing the innings with Quatt posting 113 for 7 from 40 overs. Allscott were excellent once more in the field with some fine catches and great contributions, with two catches from the impressive Phil Hoofe and some excellent work from stand-in Wicket Keeper Kev Davey. Congratulations to Quatt Batsman Gary Knowles who batted well and finished 56 not out.
The run chase began well with Allscott openers Calum Starling and Stu Berry pushing the score into the seventies before the fall of the first wicket. Starling batted well and aggresively, eventually caught just short of his half century on 46. The game was closed out by Neil Lewis and Berry, who carried his bat to finish unbeaten on 29. Allscott won the match by 8 wickets inside 19 overs to extend their run to one defeat in five.................................Well done boys!!
