MATCH REPORTS

 Saturday 12th May

1st team

Allscott travelled to Knockin & Kinnerley this week and on winning the toss asked the hosts to bat first. Knockin got off to a flyer with ex Allscott player Rich Williams making a quick fire 50. Steven Gray (45) and Hugh Morris contributed useful scores but wickets kept falling regularly with the pick of Allscott bowlers being Chris (Twink) Starling who took 4 for 34 off his 12 overs. Ian Pollard and Martin Jones took two wicket each which resulted in Knockin being dismissed for 163 off 43 over’s.

Allscott reply got off to a disastrous start with both openers back in the shack with only 7 on the score board. However an excellent knock of 79 not out from Dave Finney and a useful 31 and 23 from Martin Jones and Ian Middleton respectively meant Allscott reached the required total off 25 over’s for the loss of only 4 wickets.

2nd Team

Allscott 2nd X1 were entertaining Knockin & Kinnerley 2nd X1 and after winning the toss the home team decided to field first.

Allscott's bowlers got off to a steady start but a couple of dropped catches were going to prove costly later in the innings. Three bowlers managed to get among the wickets Dan Brentnall (2 for 36), Ali Raza (2 for 23) and young debutant leg spinner Damon Morris (2 for 22) on his first game for Allscott. Although the home team picked up six wickets it was Knockin's elder statesmen Bluey Thomas who was the star of the show with 111 not out leaving their innings on 206 for 6.

The home side needing a good start to their innings were one wicket down inside the first two over’s, this brought in young Bradley Thornton who was to carry his bat through the rest of the over’s for a very credible (39 not out), the other main contributor was once again Tim Clare carrying on his form from the previous game with (56). Once he was out it was a struggle for the rest of the batsmen as Allscott got to 139 for 6 to draw the game.

3rd Team

This weekend Allscott III welcomed high flying Wellington to Allscott CC. Having won the toss Wellington were invited to bat and were bowled out for 146 inside 38 over’s. Michael Debenham (59) was the only Wellington batsman of note but even he survived an early shout for caught behind when in single figures he nicked a sharp delivery from Stuart McKinven, taken by wicket keeper, Kieran Berry. Debenham deemed not out by the umpire was eventually dismissed late in the game, brilliantly caught by Christian Graham off McKinven. McKinven and youngster Ryan Berry took three wickets a piece to return the best bowling figures for Allscott.

The Allscott reply got off to a great start with Kieran Berry and Stuart Berry putting on 74 for the first wicket when Kieran (31) was finally caught. This signalled a steady fall of wickets with Stuart (47) run out shortly after. A quick 20 not out from Stuart McKinven was not enough for Allscott to chase down the total, falling 13 runs short on 133 for 6. Corey Kernick took 3 wickets for Wellington to return their best bowling figures.

A great game of cricket was drawn with both teams sharing eleven points!
