Allscott 1st X1 V’s Newport X1- Saturday 24th July.

Allscott travelled to Newport this weekend and after winning the toss was asked the hosts to bat first. Newport was looking to get back to winning ways after two defeats the previous weekend. Paul Furniss (62) got them off to a steady start and with Aditya Jain added 34 they managed to finish on a total of 153 off their 50 over’s. Best bowling for Allscott was Ian Pollard 5 for 29 with Martin Jones and Chris Starling chipping in with 2 wickets each. Allscott reply got off to their usual rapid start with skipper Carl Starling soon hitting 42, but after his dismissal, yet another dismal batting collapse saw them bowled out for a meagre 108. Best bowling for Newport was Jain with 6 for 44.

2nd X1 Match Report - Saturday 24th July

Allscott this week were entertaining high fliers Newport at home and having lost the toss were asked to bat first. Things did not go their way early on with loss of one of the openers in the second over with only a few runs on the scoreboard. Many of the following batsmen got starts but never managed to build a significant innings, the best scores of the day were Lee Pickford (37) and Ian Watson (20). With the other batsmen not getting past 20 runs each Allscott were bowled out for 124.

Facing an uphill challenge Allscott managed to get a really good start when they managed to reduce Newport at one stage to 8 runs for 3 wickets with an excellent opening spell of bowling from the ever improving Marcus Clayton who finished with figures of 4 for 26 off his maximum 7 over opening spell. This early spell was helped by some good catching and fielding but Newport’s middle order batsmen managed to steady the ship and guided them home for a 5 wicket win.

Allscott 3 XI v Shrewsbury IV – SCAT Shrewsbury 24th July

Allscott travelled the short distance to play Shrewsbury 4th team at SCAT. Winning the toss Allscott asked Shrewsbury to bat first which seemed a good decision with only Richard Scragg (30) and Ian Brierley showing any form with Shrewsbury being bowled out for 77. Best bowling for Allscott was Les Pritchard 5 for 20, Rob Beckett 3 for 37 and Ryan Berry 2 for 12. In reply Allscott meet some pretty useful bowling and with only Kevin Davy (10) and Rob Beckett top scoring with 13 making double figures in a final total of 55 all out. Best bowling for Shrewsbury was Richard Scragg 5 for 13 and Doug Reynolds 4 for 11.
